In Durbanville, a public park or garden, local dam, nature reserve or walking trail is your best bet if you’re looking for a place to take along your own food and beverages. You can’t take in your own consumables to a wine farm, obviously, but wine is available at cellar prices at our wine estates.

platters etc, to enjoy at their tables on the lawns or in the vineyards. They have a play area and
jungle gym at the tasting room side, with lawns and shady trees too. You can also take a walk
through the vineyards.
Hillcrest Quarry is open for fishing and take-your-own picnics. There is not much shelter, but at least
the kids can do something physical. Fishing is charged for, but entry and picnics are free and they
have bathrooms.
Tables at Nitida, Nitida Wine Estate have plenty of lawns, with a jungle gym in sight. The estate
boasts a few canons, biking trails, place to walk and a dam with shady trees.
D’Aria Winery have plenty of lawns, a jungle gym, a deck, and many shady trees. They offer picnic
platters, tapas, oysters and affordable wine, with assorted tastings, which you can enjoy on the
lawns or the deck too.
For public spaces, visit Boland Dam, Sonstraal and Vygeboom Dams, and Kenridge Dam. You will
also find the Majik Forest in Durbanville and Boland Park in Vierlanden Durbanville. They’re all pet-
friendly and have shady trees. Take your own picnic. No bathrooms.
The Durbanville Rose Garden is gorgeous. You can take a stroll through the rose garden, and take your own picnic. There’s a jungle gym, entry is free and they have bathrooms.
Tygerberg Nature Reserve is a great place to hike with your family. Take your own picnic. They
charge a small entry fee and they have bathrooms. Find in Welgemoed, right next to Durbanville.
